Great news!  We’ve come to a deal with Pili Pili Entertainment to release the DVD of Twiga Stars: Tanzania’s Soccer Sisters (Swahili title Twiga Stars: Dada wa Mpira) nationwide in Tanzania.  Pili Pili will cover the costs of DVD production, marketing and distribution, and have pledged to donate 50% of the profits directly to the Twiga Stars players.  The filmmakers will be giving each player 50 DVD’s to give away or sell at her own discretion.  Additionally, each women’s football club will receive 200 copies to sell or give away at their discretion, to raise funds and support for the clubs. 

We are also in talks with Pili Pili Entertainment about creating a fiction film series based on the lives of the Twiga Stars players... with script written by Nisha Ligon and starring some of the female footballers of Dar es Salaam.  My hope is that between the income from the DVDs and the opportunity to work as actors and stunt people in an additional film, we can continue providing financial and employment opportunities for the players.
